Oman NOC's Olympic Academy holds sports psychology course

Muscat, Oman, July 1, 2025: The Oman Olympic Academy, which comes under the umbrella of the Oman Olympic Committee, launched a sports psychology course on Monday, June 30.

The course, attended by representatives of various institutions, is part of an ongoing effort to develop and qualify national sports professionals in the psychological and mental aspects of athletic preparation.

The course is led by Dr. Ali bin Salam Al-Yarubi, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University.

A wide range of topics is covered, including motivation building, self-confidence, strategies for managing anxiety and stress, mental imagery skills, focus, and mental resilience under pressure.

It also addresses the promotion of sportsmanship, the creation of a positive psychological environment, effective team communication and leadership styles in sports and their psychological impact on athletes.

The primary goal of the course is to empower participants to design comprehensive psychological preparation programmes that align with athletes’ needs throughout the sports season.

This course is one of the academy’s specialised programmes, reflecting the Oman Olympic Committee’s commitment to integrating modern scientific concepts into sports practice.
