Astana, Kazakhstan, July 1, 2025: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan has allocated financial support to figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov so he can prepare for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
This funding is part of the 2025 continental grant under the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Solidarity athlete scholarship programme.
Shaidorov won a bronze medal in the men's figure skating competition at the 2025 Asian WInter Games in Harbin.
This grant, issued for the Olympic cycle, is distributed by the Kazakhstan NOC across several sports to enhance their competitiveness on the international stage.
As a result, funding has also been directed to teams in figure skating, archery, badminton, canoe/kayak and rowing. The programme provides phased financial support from 2025 through 2028.
The Olympic Solidarity programme offers technical and financial assistance to NOCs to help athletes prepare for regional, continental and global competitions, including the Olympics.
The support is strictly designated for training, preparatory activities and participation in competitions. It covers expenses that cannot be met by state funding.
In the previous Olympic cycle, a similar grant was awarded to the national freestyle skiing team, which went on to achieve significant progress and win a historic gold medal at the 2025 Harbin AWG.
