Kuwait City, Kuwait, June 28, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Medical Committee and Anti-Doping Commission stepped up preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Japan next year by holding an online meeting with the medical and anti-doping teams from organising committee AINAGOC.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, June 25 and was led by the Chair of the OCA Medical Committee and Anti-Doping Commission, Dr. Sultan Al Busaidi of Oman.
MEDICAL
On the medical side, AINAGOC confirmed that contingency measures were in place in case of natural disasters, such as earthquakes.
*Regarding the medical services guide and anti-doping guide, it was emphasized that these two guides should be finalised and shared at least six to eight months before the Asian Games. This timeline ensures that all stakeholders have adequate time to review, prepare and coordinate accordingly.
*It was suggested that the medical services and anti-doping guides be sent directly to NOCs via email, in addition to being distributed at the Chefs de Mission meeting, in order to ensure all NOCs receive the information.
*On the subject of logistical coordination for customs and imports, there was a detailed discussion on the import of medical equipment and substances into Japan. AINAGOC acknowledged the importance of early coordination with Japanese customs authorities to facilitate a smooth clearance process. Specific documentation and declarations may be required, and a guidance note will be prepared to assist participating delegations.
ANTI-DOPING
*An agreement was signed between AINAGOC and the International Testing Agency. OCA will act as an observer.
*OCA will be monitoring the education programme both pre-Games and on-site education.
*Athletes participating in the 20th Asian Games are required to complete the International Level Athlete (ILA) course in ADEL (Anti-Doping Education and Learning) platform, available in many different Asian languages.
*Ensure that certificates are valid throughout the Games period.
The 20th Asian Games will take place in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026, with 15,000 athletes and officials from the OCA’s 45 NOCs.
