Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 25, 2025: International Olympic Day was celebrated by the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan in Tashkent with a number of demonstrations in various sports where members of the public were also invited to participate.
Young athletes demonstrated their skills in football, badminton, archery, table tennis, judo, Uzbek martial arts, wrestling, taekwondo, fencing and 3x3 basketball with the public also invited to try their hand in various disciplines.
The event which was held at the Republican Olympic and Paralympic Sports Training Centre in the capital – the main training venue for national athletes – was attended by senior Ministry of Sports members led by Minister Adkham Ikramov , NOC officials including Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, star athletes, representatives of national sports federations and the public.
This year’s celebration was held by the NOC in partnership with LUKOIL Uzbekistan Operating Company, which has been a supporter of the Olympic movement in the country – the company donates mats and carpets which meet the standards of United World Wrestling to a number of sports schools.
Speaking at the ceremony, officials spoke about the significance of Olympic Day – celebrated annually worldwide on June 23 – and the comprehensive reforms in sports being undertaken under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is also the NOC President.
The Olympic Day celebrations ended with a festive concert with musical performances providing an uplifting spirit to the evening.
