Kathmandu, Nepal, June 23, 2025: Nepal Olympic Committee completed their Olympic Day celebrations at the Earthquake Memorial Multipurpose Hall on Monday, June 23 under the slogan “Let’s Move - for Health and the Promotion of Sport”.
Three days of festivities featured 23 events, culminating in an Olympic Day torch relay and cycling rally at Swoyambhu.
NOC President Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha inaugurated the Olympic Day relay by transferring the Olympic torch to Olympian athletes. President Shrestha emphasized the need to broaden the Olympic movement. He stressed that the spirit of the Olympics, promoting unity and peace, must be spread everywhere.
NOC Vice-President and Chairman of the Olympic Day Coordination Committee, Mr. Ashok Bajracharya, stated that they had successfully conveyed the Olympic message.
NOC Secretary General Mr. Rajeev Shrestha highlighted that Olympic Day was not just a date on the calendar. "It is a movement to encourage participation in sports, lead a healthy and active life and promote peace, inclusion and unity through physical activity," he said.
The closing ceremony, which commenced with the hoisting of the Nepal national flag by Coordinator Bajracharya and the IOC flag by President Shrestha, featured sports demonstrations and a cultural dance by Galaxy School.
