OCA adds Third youth reporter to Asian Games media team

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, June 23, 2025: Naranbat Serjmaa aims to use his writing skills to “connect” readers with athletes and their exploits at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

Naranbat, 15, will travel to Japan next year as part of the OCA’s media team after being declared the winner of the “My Asian Games” essay competition of the Asian Youth Reporter Project in Mongolia.

The Sant High School Ulaanbaatar student wrote in his article: “I want to use my words as a bridge to connect the audience with the athletes.”

Then cleverly making good use of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games slogan “Imagine One Asia”, he wrote: “I hope to contribute to a future where we move closer to truly understand, a future where we can Imagine One Asia.”

Naranbat, who hopes to one day represent Mongolia in swimming at the Asian Games, will follow in the footsteps of compatriot Enkhsaran Baasandorj, who won the Asian Youth Reporter title from Mongolia for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.

“I’m pleased to have won this title and I’m looking forward to the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya and spreading the stories of athletes, especially those from Mongolia," said Naranbat.

A total of 17 young students from schools in the Mongolian capital city participated in the OCA’s Asian Youth Reporter Project, which is one part of the “Asian Games for All” campaign.

Naranbat will join Bhutan’s Meera Regmi and Rumayza Norova of Tajikistan as members of OCA’s reporting team for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19-October 4, 2026.

After receiving his award on Monday, June 23, Naranbat added: “I am fascinated by how words can construct entire universes within the mind, where imagination and reality seem to collide.”
