Bangkok, Thailand, June 21, 2025: Organisers of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December are expecting to welcome over 18,000 athletes and officials, SEA Games Thailand 2025 reports.
The figure was announced by the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, at a recent meeting and is based on provisional entry lists.
The SEA Games, which is held every two years, involves 11 National Olympic Committees from the southeast Asia region, and this year’s event will take place from December 9-20 at Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
The Sports Minister added that the 13th ASEAN Para Games were expected to welcome over 4,000 participants, making 22,000 participants in total for the two multi-sport events.
The final deadline for NOCs to submit the names of their athletes is September 1, after which the exact figure will be known.
The sports programme for the 33rd SEA Games covers 50 sports and 574 events.
The 13th ASEAN Para Games will be held in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) and Bangkok from January 20-26, 2026.
