Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 16, 2025: The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan has extended its best wishes to former NOC President Sobir Roziyev, who celebrated his 72nd birthday on Sunday, June 15.
“The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan congratulates Sobir Roziyev on his birthday today and wishes him a long life and good health,” the NOC posted on social media.
Sobir, a fencer, won a silver medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics in the team foil event. He also won two gold medals, one silver and a bronze medal at world championships.
Sobir is the holder of the honorary title “Honoured Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
He was NOC President from 1994 to 2003.
