Colombo, Sri Lanka, April 8, 2020: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka is celebrating a special occasion on Wednesday, April 8.
“83rd Happy Birthday to the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka,” said a post on the NOC’s Facebook page @olympicLK on Wednesday.
“It's been a long journey since April 8, 1937! NOC Sri Lanka was inaugurated exactly 83 years ago and, in the same year, it was recognised as an NOC by the IOC.
“Accordingly, to the date of recognition of NOCs by the IOC, NOC Sri Lanka stands at the sixth place and is, therefore, one of the oldest NOCs in Asia!”
