Astana, Kazakhstan, June 15, 2025: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan hosted a meeting with representatives of the Korean Institute of Sport Science (KISS) in Astana last week.

The Kazakhstan NOC delegation was led by Secretary General Alimzhan Akayev and included Director of International Relations Anara Syzdykova and Senior Sports Manager Olzhas Togizbayev.

KISS, one of Korea’s leading research institutions in the field of sports science, was represented by Senior Researcher Kim Kwon-il and Dr. Cho Hyun-joo, Senior Research Fellow in Sports Policy Development.

The two sides explored potential avenues for collaboration in sports science, capacity-building and joint research. The Kazakhstan NOC expressed particular interest in KISS’s structured approach to talent identification and youth development.

“We greatly value the Korean Institute’s systemic approach to advancing sports science and engaging with youth. We are confident that this dialogue opens new prospects for professional development and growth,” said NOC Secretary General Akayev.

Earlier, with the support of KISS, Astana launched an international Summer School programme for physical education teachers.
