Almaty, Kazakhstan, April 8, 2020: In order to express solidarity during this time of social distancing and to encourage people to be active even while staying at home, NOC Kazakhstan and UNESCO have launched the #BeActive Challenge for their colleagues.
The first challenge was supported by NOC Kazakhstan Secretary General Mr. Saken Mussaibekov calling on everyone to stay active and healthy. He was supported by his colleagues from all NOC departments and services.
“This is a challenge for all – for you and me, for our organisations and for our colleagues,” NOC Kazakhstan said.
“Today we are all one team. It is especially important now, in the period of social distancing when everyone observes the home quarantine regime.
“We work with the best athletes who inspire us every day with their victories, determination and perseverance but today we can all be among them by just staying at home and following their example by staying active.”
NOC Kazakhstan extended the challenge to their colleagues from the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Paralympic Committee and National Federations, as well as UNHCR for Central Asia.
NOC Kazakhstan and UNESCO intend to join efforts to promote physical education and sport. Additionally, special attention will be paid to universal and equal access to sport, as well as the development of the Olympic Movement in Kazakhstan.
Key areas for joint activities, such as sport for all, education, gender equality and anti-doping, have already been identified.
