Home Minister lauds India's second-place finish in Asian Athletics Championships

New Delhi, India, June 3, 2025: The Indian Home Minister and Indian Olympic Association have hailed the performance of the national athletics squad which won a total of 24 medals at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships.

India finished in second place overall in the medal standings -  with eight gold, 10 silver and six bronze - behind China, who topped the charts with 26 medals comprised of 15 gold, eight silver and three bronze.

In a post on X, Home Minister Amit Shah said: “Kudos to Bharat’s (India’s) contingent for the stellar show of talent and resilience at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships held in South Korea. 

"With dedication and hard work, you have proven yet again our might to be at the top of whichever game we play. May victory be your companion.”

The Indian Olympic Association posted a congratulatory message on its Instagram page: “A memorable 26th Asian Athletics Championships for #TeamIndia. 24 medals and 2nd on the Medal Tally.”
