Thimphu, Bhutan, June 1, 2025: The Bhutan Olympic Committee held a media workshop for national sports federations and associations on Friday, May 30, in an effort to strengthen the visibility of sports in the country.

The special session aimed at fostering better communication across all sporting bodies was titled "Working Together for Stronger Sports Visibility – A Collaborative Media Strategy for Federations and Associations".

Victor Gurung, media and technical lead consultant with the BOC, conducted the session with the mission to build a unified, organised and impactful media presence for Bhutanese athletes and sports.

“We’re all on the same team. It’s about supporting each other so we can tell better stories, celebrate our athletes and make sure their hard work gets the spotlight it deserves,” Gurung told participants in the workshop.

The session addressed real-life examples ranging from last-minute event announcements to blurry photos and confusing press releases.

Practical solutions were shared, including a three-phase communications template – pre-event, during the event and post-event – and tips on taking photos. Participants were split into groups and strategies were brainstormed.

One of the key takeaways from the workshop was that the BOC’s media was a partner. “If you ever feel stuck, or overwhelmed, we’re there to help. Media doesn’t have to be complicated – it just needs a little planning, teamwork and heart,” Gurung noted.

At the end of the workshop, federations were left with a renewed sense of responsibility, and a clearer understanding of how to showcase their athletes and events better.
