Ramallah, Palestine, May 26, 2025: The President of the Palestine Olympic Committee, Jibril Rajoub, has hailed Palestine’s national baseball team for clinching the West Asia Baseball Cup by defeating Pakistan in the final.
Palestine beat Pakistan 5-4 in a thrilling contest to be crowned champions in Karaj, Iran last week.
It’s Palestine’s first international title in baseball. By reaching the final, both Palestine and Pakistan will qualify for the Asian Baseball Championship which is an U-23 Baseball World Cup qualifier.
The POC President described the victory as a “beacon of hope” for Palestinians and a testament to the unity of the people of Palestine.
Seven countries participated in the competition. Host nation Iran defeated India 6-3 in the bronze medal game.
