Almaty, Kazakhstan, April 7, 2020: The world celebrated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on Monday, April 6, encouraging people to be active while experiencing containment measures, fostering solidarity, community and team spirit.
Kazakhstani athletes took part in a world digital campaign dedicated to support the celebration of this day, reports Olympic.kz.
Despite the fact that COVID-19 is dictating its own rules and most of the world is quarantined, each of us can support the sports movement with a digital campaign "White Card" (#Whitecard): Picture with a white card in hand - a symbolic action in opposition to the red card, which means the most serious violation committed by an athlete.
The White Card symbolises honesty and a constructive approach in sport. Athletes from #TeamKZ supported a digital campaign that promotes positive and constructive values in sport and symbolizes a gesture of tolerance and peace.
The project was implemented in cooperation with the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office –the latest in a series of joint initiatives to popularise physical education and sport.
In addition, special attention will be paid to universal and equal access to sport as well as the development of the Olympic movement among the population in Kazakhstan.
Key areas for joint cooperation such as sport for all, education, gender equality and anti-doping have already been identified.
