Tehran, Iran, May 21, 2025: The National Olympic Committees of Iran and Kuwait are on the verge of signing a Memorandum of Understanding which will pave the way for closer cooperation between the two NOCs.
The Presidents of both NOCs – Iran’s Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa and Kuwait’s Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah – met on the sidelines of the 45th OCA General Assembly earlier this month in Kuwait to hold friendly discussions on how to fast forward the idea of a MoU initiated in April.
The Secretary General of the Iran NOC, Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, was also present at the meeting.
In this meeting, the Kuwait NOC President referred to Iran’s dominance in a number of sports, including the growing discipline of mixed martial arts, and suggested cooperation in this aspect be included in the text of the cooperation agreement.
Both NOC Presidents emphasised the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sports.
It was decided that both parties would visit the sporting infrastructures in each country before finalising the MoU.
