Manama, Bahrain, May 15, 2025: Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Olympic Council of Asia Deputy Director General, has praised the organisers of the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025 for creating a sustainable environment for the October 22-31 showpiece.
“A noteworthy feature of these games is it sustainable aspect. The organisers are using existing facilities for the 24 sports which will be featured, and impressively, not one new facility has been built for this third edition of the Asian Youth Games. This must be lauded,” Vinod Tiwari noted.
The OCA Deputy Director General was addressing Bahrain media at a press conference to mark the end of the two days of inaugural meetings of Chefs de Mission and Technical Delegates for the AYG.
“We have had two excellent days of meetings. Technical delegates and Chefs de Mission have been given a comprehensive brief on the games and I’m sure everyone will go back home with a lot of material which will help their athletes,” Vinod Tiwari said.
The first TD and CdMs meeting for the 3rd AYG will end on Friday with site visits to both the two main competition hubs – Isa Sports City and Exhibition World Bahrain as well as the eight other competition sub-zones.
A total of 24 sports will be staged with camel racing and kabaddi set to make AYG debuts.
“The timing for these games couldn’t be better,” Vinod Tiwari pointed out. “With the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar Senegal in 2026, the Bahrain games later this year will provide all Asian National Olympic Committees with an excellent opportunity to see how their young athletes perform.”
Bahrain Olympic Committee Secretary General Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji underlined the fact at the media conference that organising the games was a complex issue, but one which BAYGOC – the Organising Committee – has handled superbly.
“It is just like organising 24 Asian Championships at once. I’m proud to say we have done it,” Al Kooheji said.
