Children of Asia Games alumnus Maxim Rakov holds judo masterclass in Kuwait

Kuwait City, Kuwait, May 13, 2025: A judo masterclass was held in Kuwait by Kazakhstan’s 2009 world champion and Children of Asia Games alumnus Maxim Rakov.

The event brought together young martial arts enthusiasts eager to explore the techniques and philosophy of judo from a true champion.

Mr. Ali Al-Marri, Deputy Secretary General of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, said: “As I see it, it is very important to develop all of this: self-confidence, and the understanding that sport is not just a hobby but a whole industry and a path to the future.

“It is truly beneficial. If we lay the right foundations from an early age — and that’s exactly what you are doing through such masterclasses and educational programs — we can shape a whole generation of conscious athletes.”

Rakov, whose sports journey began with a successful performance at the Children of Asia Games, shared his experience with the participants, demonstrated key judo techniques and conducted practical training.

After the session, he spoke with the young athletes, answered their questions, and emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance and the Olympic spirit.

“I was very pleased to lead this judo masterclass for children in Kuwait,” Rakov, 39, said.

“Our sport is constantly evolving, and this program is a great example of that. The masterclass went perfectly: there were talented kids, a positive atmosphere, and I’m glad I could contribute.”

The event was held in collaboration with the Olympic Council of Asia, with the support of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, on the sidelines of the 45th OCA General Assembly on May 11-12.
