Kuwait City, Kuwait, May 11, 2025: Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, has praised the Olympic Council of Asia for its visionary approach at the opening ceremony of the 45th OCA General Assembly.
Welcoming delegates at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre in the Kuwaiti capital on Sunday evening, Sheikh Fahad said their presence embodied the unity and solidarity of the Olympic Movement in Asia.
“It is a great honour and privilege to welcome you all to the 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, and the State of Kuwait - the headquarters of the OCA,” Sheikh Fahad said.
“On behalf of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, I extend my warmest greetings and thank you for your presence today, which embodies the unity and solidarity of the Asian Olympic Movement.”
The Kuwait Olympic Committee President paid tribute to His Royal Highnesses, the Amir of Kuwait and the Crown Prince, both whom he labelled as supporters of sport and youth in the country.
“I wish to convey my profound gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, and to His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, for their boundless support for sport and youth, and their commitment to fostering sporting unity across the Asian continent, and Kuwait’s generous backing in hosting this prominent international event.”
Sheikh Fahad then commended the OCA for its leadership and for providing a solid foundation for the growth of sport across the world’s most populous continent.
“Thanks are also due to the Olympic Council of Asia for its vision, which remains the cornerstone of sporting development across Asia. Today’s General Assembly stands as clear evidence of our solidarity and shared aspirations,” Sheikh Fahad said.
