Hong Kong, China, May 9, 2025: The 2026 General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) will be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from December 2-7 next year.
The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) is pressing ahead at full steam with preparations for this mega event, with 1,200 members of the Olympic Movement expected to attend, including delegates from 206 National Olympic Committees.
Mrs. Gunilla Lindberg, Secretary General of ANOC, led the ANOC Working Group to Hong Kong to meet with the representatives of SF&OC and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and discuss the preparations in detail.
The ANOC Working Group also visited the venues for the assembly to understand the arrangements of accommodation and transportation.
During the six-day visit from May 5-10, the ANOC Working Group visited the AsiaWorld-Expo, nearby hotels and the Hong Kong International Airport to inspect the venues and gain a deeper understanding of the accommodation, transportation, reception and related supporting facilities, as well as the sustainable initiatives to minimise carbon emissions.
The ANOC Working Group also visited the Olympic House to meet with the Organizing Committee for 2026 ANOC General Assembly and representatives of HKSAR Government, and exchange views on matters of mutual interest and concern.
Mr. Kenneth Fok, President of the Organizing Committee for 2026 ANOC General Assembly and Vice-President of SF&OC, said: “Hong Kong boasts state-of-the-art venues and comprehensive supporting facilities. Following the site visit in Hong Kong, the ANOC Working Group has full confidence in our ability to host the 2026 General Assembly.
“We have drawn up a roadmap and will advance the preparations in the coming months, aiming to provide a unique experience with Hong Kong characteristics that combines conferences, sports and tourism, to the delegates from all over the world.”
Mrs. Lindberg added: “We are very pleased with the progress being made and impressed by the professionalism and commitment of the local Organizing Committee.
“The facilities at AsiaWorld-Expo are world-class, and we are confident that Hong Kong, China will deliver an outstanding General Assembly in 2026.”
