Nagoya, Japan, May 8, 2025: Former national team goalkeeper Seigo Narazaki was the star attraction at the 500-day countdown celebration of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee on Wednesday, May 7.

Narazaki, who played 556 J.League games for Nagoya Grampus Eight from 1999 to 2018, was on hand as the countdown board was unveiled at the Sakae Chika Central Square event space. He also played 77 times for Japan’s national team.

There was also a talk-in with Narazaki, 49, who is now goalkeeper coach for Grampus.

“The largest sports festival in Asia, the 20th Asian Games, will be held in 500 days!” AINAGOC posted.

“The exciting talk by special guest Seigo Narazaki was a huge hit! Thank you so much to everyone who came out. Let's keep rocking together for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in 2026,” AINAGOC added.

Popular tiger fish mascot Honohon also made an appearance, much to the delight of the audience.

The 20th Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4, 2026 – the third time for Japan to host the OCA’s showpiece event following Tokyo 1958 and Hiroshima 1994.
