Kuwait City, Kuwait, April 28, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia has pledged its full support to the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the organising committee of the 3rd Asian Youth Games in October.
AYG3 will be held in Bahrain from October 22-31, 2025 with 24 sports. The timing of the event is critical as it will adhere to the age guidelines and qualification process for the IOC’s Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal from October 31 to November 14, 2026.
Addressing an online meeting of the OCA Executive Board, Director General Husain Al Musallam asked for the approval of the EB members to support the Bahrain Olympic Committee and AYG organising committee in order to stage a successful games.
The EB agreed to continue with this OCA backing, especially as Bahrain stepped in at short notice last December after Uzbekistan pulled out because the new Olympic City in Tashkent would not be completed on time.
The EB also approved the medal design of the Bahrain AYG, which follows Bahraini culture in their oblong shape rather than the traditional circular medals.
