Manila, Philippines, April 27, 2025: The President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, had the honour of starting the MPTC Tour of Luzon cycling race.
In what is being described as “The Great Revival” of Philippine cycling, the Tour of Luzon is sponsored by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation.
“The MPTC Tour of Luzon 2025 officially rolls out with 17 cycling teams ready to conquer the roads,” said Tolentino, who is also President of PhilCycling.
“Proud to launch this historic revival at the iconic Paoay Church in Ilocos Norte, blending the power of cycling with our heritage.
“This marks a strong step forward for Philippine cycling uniting athletes, regions and partners in one meaningful journey. We pedal not just for victory, but for national pride and progress.”
Once the pinnacle of Philippine cycling, this elite multi-stage race challenges the nation’s top riders across Luzon’s breathtaking yet demanding routes.
The Tour of Luzon will run from April 24 to May 1 with eight stages over 1,074.9 km. The tour was first held in 1955 but not since 2019.
