Kuwait City, Kuwait, April 24, 2025: The Chair of the OCA Media Committee, Faris Al Kooheji of Bahrain, conducted an on-line meeting on Thursday, April 24.
The committee members were provided with updates on the OCA activities in 2025, including a highly successful Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China in February, and also on media and broadcasting plans for the upcoming Asian Youth Games in Bahrain this October and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan in 2026.
The OCA will also contact the 45 National Olympic Committees in order to find out the key social media influencers in each country and region to create new content for future games.
The Deputy Director General of the OCA, Vinod Kumar Tiwari, provided an update on OCA activities for 2024-25.
This report included a visit to Nagoya in January to inspect athlete accommodation for the 20th Asian Games next year; the success of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, in February with a record 34 NOCs and 1,222 athletes; OCA seminars on AI Technology and E-sports in Kuwait and on gender equity in Brunei; and the OCA/Olympic Solidarity regional forums in Bhutan and Tajikistan.
The OCA’s Asian Games for All campaign featuring Asian Games Fun Run, Asian Games Youth Reporter Project and Asian Games Children’s Art Competition were held alongside the regional forums and produced the first two youth reporters for the OCA media team being assembled for Aichi-Nagoya.
Upcoming OCA events include the Technical Delegates Meeting (April 30) and Coordination Committee Meeting (May 1-2) for the 20th Asian Games; the 45th OCA General Assembly in Kuwait on May 11-12; the Technical Delegates and Chefs de Mission meetings in Bahrain on May 14-16; the sixth Athletes Forum in Astana, Kazakhstan on September 2-3; and the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain on October 22-31.
The OCA Director of Media and Broadcast, Jeans Zhou Jian, provided details of the media and broadcast presence in Harbin for the 9th Asian Winter Games in February.
There were 564 media accredited, 1,397 personnel from host broadcaster China Media Group and 836 staff from 12 rights-holding broadcasters.
The OCA Media Committee Chair, who is also Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, is hoping to set up an in-person meeting on the sidelines of the 45th OCA General Assembly in Kuwait on May 11-12.
