Muscat, Oman, April 24, 2025: HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee for 2024-2028 at the OOC General Assembly in Muscat on Tuesday, April 22.
The meeting was attended by members of the OOC Board, representatives of 17 sports federations, a representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and candidates for the new board.
Sayyid Azzan brings a wealth of experience to his new role having previously served as OOC Vice-Chairman. As Chairman, he is expected to focus on enhancing athlete development and strengthening Oman’s representation in international competition.
The General Assembly also approved the appointment of HE Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi as Vice-Chairman.
Other key appointments include Taha Sulaiman Al-Kishry and Abdullah Mohammed Bamakhalf as representatives of Olympic sports federations, Yousuf Awad Beit Salim representing non-Olympic sports federations, Khalifa Hamad Al Jabri as the athletes’ committee representative and Sayyidah Sanaa Hamad Al Busaidi as the women’s sports representative.
There were also six other members elected to the OOC Board of Directors from sports federations.
