Almaty, Kazakhstan, April 23, 2025: Gennadiy Golovkin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the KIMEP University in Almaty.
In recognition of Golovkin’s outstanding contribution to enhancing Kazakhstan’s international reputation – he was a world professional boxing champion – the KIMEP University awarded the honorary title.
“It is a great honour for us to award the title of Honorary Doctor to Gennadiy Golovkin – a person who has become a symbol of Kazakhstan on the world stage,” said KIMEP University Dr. Chan Young Bang.
“He has not only achieved remarkable success in professional sport but has also become a true ambassador for our country abroad. His story inspires, and his name is respected worldwide. He is one of the figures shaping Kazakhstan’s modern global image,” Dr. Chan added.
The Kazakhstan NOC President shared his experiences with students, and touched on topics such as the development of international cooperation, promotion of sports initiatives and strengthening Kazakhstan’s image on the global stage.
“I’m very glad to be here today. You are the future of our country. Looking back on my journey, I can say with certainty that anything is possible. But behind every achievement stand not only talent and dreams, but also daily work, discipline and persistence,” Golovkin stated.
“Use your time at University not only to gain knowledge, but also to understand who you are and who you want to become. Build yourselves honestly, consistently, and with faith in your abilities,” he added.
