Lausanne, Switzerland, April 22, 2025: The JSW Foundation has donated a tapestry honouring Indian javelin hero Neeraj Chopra to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

This part of the textile work, entitled “Citius – Altius – Fortius”, depicts Chopra throwing a javelin, with his Paris 2024 silver medal around his neck.

In the background, a stylised Eiffel Tower and a flaming torch complete the composition. This tapestry is one of three works shown in Paris after the Olympic Games last year. One of the other two depicts wrestler Sakshi Malik, a wrestling bronze medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The work was designed by Karishma Swali and woven at the Chanakya School of Craft.

Commissioned by JSW Foundation President Sangita Jindal and created by craftspeople from the Chanakya School of Craft, “Citius – Altius – Fortius” invites the viewer to think about the dialogue between contemporary art and sport.

“For this particular project, I was keen to highlight the synergies between the worlds of art and sport and amalgamate them together. The vision for this project was to bring two different essential aspects of life into alignment to achieve a common higher national goal,” Jindal explained.

Olympic Museum Director Angelita Teo added: “We are truly grateful to receive this tapestry, which carries such rich meaning for both sport and the arts in India. Our sincere thanks go to Sangita Jindal and the JSW Foundation for their generous donation. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with artists from India.”

JSW Foundation is the social development arm of the US$ 24 billion JSW Group, one of India’s leading business houses. JSW Foundation’s focus areas include sports promotion and art, culture and heritage.

Chopra became a national hero when winning men’s javelin gold at Tokyo 2020.
