Tehran, Iran, April 22, 2025: The Ambassador of Greece to Iran, Stylianos Gavril, met the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, at the NOC Headquarters on Saturday, April 19.
Welcoming the Greek Ambassador, NOC Secretary General Dr. Alinejad pointed out the cultural similarities between the two countries and emphasised that both Greece and Iran can have extensive cooperation in the field of sports.
“We have many cultural similarities and this can pave the way for further interaction between Greece and Iran at the level of the National Olympic Committees,” Dr. Alinejad said.
He added: “We can have good joint experiences in the field of sports communications by holding joint camps in different disciplines and using each other’s coaches and instructors to grow our sport by holding training courses.”
In turn, the Greek Ambassador said: “I am honoured to be your guest. I visited the Iranian Sports Museum and was impressed by the honours recorded in it. Winning medals is difficult, and above that are human values, which you can clearly feel in your museum. This museum is like the diamond of Iranian sports.”
