Tashkent, Uzbekistan, April 21, 2025: The Uzbekistan national wrestling team, which won seven medals, including three gold, at the Asian Championships in Jordan last month, was feted by the Uzbek sporting community on Saturday, April 19.
An awards ceremony was held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the attendance of government officials – the Ministries of Sport, Higher Education and Science and Innovation – along with senior officials from the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan Wrestling Federation and athletes and coaches.
It was emphasised that the successful outing of the national wrestling team at the Asian Championships would lay the foundation for future success at Olympic level.
At the awards ceremony, athletes, coaches and medical specialists on the team were given financial incentives. The athletes were also given one-year scholarship certificates from the Ministry of Sport.
The head coach of the national wrestling team, Rustam Assakalov, was awarded the Excellence in Physical Education and Sports badge.
