Hong Kong, China, April 18, 2025: The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China announced the winners of the Cathay 2024 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai on Thursday, April 17.
Olympic Games gold medallists Cheung Ka Long, who defended his men's foil individual title in Paris, and Vivian Kong, who triumphed in the women's epee individual for the first time, were awarded Best of the Best for men and women, respectively.
This was the first time in the history of the awards that two fencers had won the top prizes.
SF&OC received 116 nominations from 53 National Sports Associations in this year's awards. Following voting by a judging panel, the media and the public, all 16 winners across four award categories were revealed at the awards night.
The officiating and award presentation guests included Mr. Cheuk Wing Hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, and Ms. Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of awards title sponsor Cathay.
