Baghdad, Iraq, April 17, 2025: The National Olympic Committee of Iraq has invited the Chair of the OCA Gender Equity Committee, Valerie Tarazi, to visit Iraq in order to see the activities of women in sports in the country.
Ms. Leila Mohamed Amin, Chair of the Gender Equality Committee and member of the Executive Board of the Iraq NOC, who attended the just-concluded second OCA Gender Equity Seminar in Brunei, personally invited Tarazi to make a visit to Iraq.
Ms. Amin stated that Tarazi, who represented Palestine in swimming at the Olympics, had welcomed the invitation and stressed the need for joint cooperation between the OCA and the Iraq NOC in supporting and empowering women in sports.
Ms. Amin added that, during the two-day seminar in Brunei, Tarazi had underscored the importance of focusing on younger age groups, which contributes to building a strong base for female sports.
The Iraq NOC reported that the visit is expected to be scheduled soon, allowing for an opportunity to share experiences and further enhance the partnership between the OCA and Iraq NOC.
