Uzbekistan NOC briefs Head of State on Olympic athletes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, April 5, 2020: Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, Abdujabbor Abdukhokhidov, had a telephone conversation with the leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and asked how the country’s Olympic athletes are quarantined.

Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov, President of the Uzbekistan NOC, reported that the athletes were currently with their families and, despite the difficult period, were training at home so as not to waste time. 

Also, he revealed that coaches and trainers were guiding them through online instruction and communication.

Presidential Advisor Abdukhokhidov said the Head of State, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was paying special attention to the physical and psychological state of the athletes and that all necessary conditions would be created for full-fledged training.

At the end of the conversation Abdukhokhidov wished the athletes good health and further success.

A total of 23 athletes in nine sports have qualified so far for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The sports are athletics, boxing, canoeing, cycling, gymnastics, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, tennis and wrestling.
