Five continents join Asian Games Fun Run in Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, April 15, 2025: The two-day OCA Gender Equity Seminar came to a joyous conclusion on Tuesday afternoon with the Asian Games Fun Run for Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

A total of 500 people took part in the 3.2-km run, with 100 participants from the gender equity seminar joining 400 locals in a festive, family and truly international occasion.

The course took the runners through the tropical gardens of the Empire Brunei hotel and resort, with the pristine golf course on one side and the crashing waves of the South China Sea on the other.

There were seven race categories, with the seminar delegates joining the women’s veteran and men’s veteran groups.

Participants included the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, His Royal Highness Prince Sufri Bolkiah, IOC Executive Board member and Jordan Olympic Committee President HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, OCA Gender Equity Committee Chair Valerie Tarazi and seminar presenter Hidilyn Diaz, who won the first Olympic gold medal in the history of the Philippines in weightlifting at Tokyo 2020.

As well as Asia, the other four continents of the five Olympic rings were represented through gender equity seminar participants from Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Americas.

“This was the first time in the history of the Asian Games Fun Run that we have had participants from all five continents of the IOC,” said the OCA’s Director of Media and Broadcasting, Mr. Jeans Zhou Jian.

“It has really added to the fun and the festive atmosphere, with the five continents united behind the success of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya in 2026.

“I am sure that our international guests will always remember the OCA Gender Equity Seminar in Brunei and also the Asian Games Fun Run, alongside all our representatives from 43 National Olympic Committees in Asia.”

The Brunei fun run was the third leg of the series to promote the 20th Asian Games, following fun runs in Bhutan and Tajikistan on the sidelines of the OCA/Olympic Solidarity Regional Forums earlier this month. The OCA is aiming to conduct between 25 and 30 Asian Games Fun Runs on the road to Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
