Baghdad, Iraq, April 8, 2025: The President of the Iraq National Olympic Committee, Dr. Aqeel Muften, welcomed a Member of the House of Representatives, Adnan Al-Zarfi, at NOC Headquarters on Tuesday, April 8, for discussions on ways to promote and develop sport in the country.
Dr. Muften gave a detailed presentation on the reality of Olympic sport in Iraq, stressing the importance of unifying national efforts and putting in place a strategic plan that will contribute to the development of sport and elevate the country’s position internationally.
Member of Parliament Adnan Al-Zarfi expressed his full support for all initiatives aimed at uplifting sport in Iraq, underlining the need for close cooperation with the NOC to ensure a fair and effective participation of Iraqi athletes at the 2028 and 2032 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and Brisbane, respectively.
He also praised the efforts of the NOC and appreciated its joint coordination with national sports federations.
