Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, April 9, 2025: The stage is set for the second OCA Gender Equity Seminar to take place in Brunei on April 14-15.
The two-day seminar will be attended by 95 participants, including delegates from 43 National Olympic Committees, and will feature 19 speakers from Asia and around the world.
This second OCA Gender Equity Seminar will build on the success of the inaugural edition, held in Bahrain in October 2022, and aims to inspire lasting and collective action towards gender equality in sport across the region.
“This year’s seminar is held under the theme ‘Watch Her Shine’, celebrating and driving actions and strategies to strengthen, inspire and empower the next generation of women in sport,” said the OCA Gender Equity and Safeguarding Manager, Mrs. Sabine Fakhoury.
The content will range from presentations, question and answer sessions, NOC best practices, panel discussions and three breakout workshops on a variety of key topics.
Some of the most influential sports leaders in Asia will be involved, including OCA Executive Board member Mikako Kotani of Japan, OCA Gender Equity Committee Chair Valerie Tarazi of Palestine, Olympic weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz of the Philippines, Olympic gymnast and mental health ambassador Farah Ann Abdul Hadi of Malaysia and Pannipar Kammueng, AFC women’s referee manager.
The seminar will take place on Monday and Tuesday, April 14-15, with the official dinner on April 14 hosted by the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Committee, His Royal Highness Prince Sufri Bolkiah.
There will also be an Asian Games Fun Run for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 on the afternoon of April 15 following the closure of the seminar.
