Kazakhstan, September 21, 2019: NOC Kazakhstan held their General Assembly on September 18. The assembly is comprised of the presidents of all national sports federations in Olympic sports.
According to the voting results, the President of the Kazakhstan NOC Mr. Timur Kulibayev, who was first elected to this position in 2015, was re-elected as Kazakhstan NOC President for another four years.
He said: "Over the past four years, Kazakhstani sport has made a significant leap forward in its development, primarily due to the joint and coordinated work of government agencies, the National Olympic Committee and national sports federations.
“Close interaction at all levels has been key to progress…and all achievements are our common victories.
“Today, the NOC of Kazakhstan is a truly important member of the international sports community and a reliable partner of world sports organisations. For four years the NOC of Kazakhstan has done a great job.
But despite all the fundamental changes in the national sport it is only the beginning. We have new challenges ahead. We will continue to work on the development of sports in Kazakhstan together," Mr. Kulibayev concluded.
The meeting summed up the results of four years of work of the NOC, during which the entire system of domestic sports was changed. Amendments have been made to the legislation on sports, which came into force in 2018; the NOC for the first time in history has become the executor of the state order.
This has increased the efficiency of national sports federations. So, the amount of funding directly depends on the achievements, popularity, sports facilities and other factors. The corruption risk has been significantly reduced, cash flows in the Olympic sport have become transparent and the transition to non-cash payments is underway.
Kazakhstan NOC initiated an analysis of corruption risks, which the Anti-Corruption Agency for the first time conducted in a non-governmental organisation. The commitment of the Olympic Committee to fair and clean sports is reflected in all areas of the organisation's activities.
The NOC has also stepped up its sports science and medical support of athletes and 123 specialists now work with the national teams to accompany athletes at all events in the country and abroad.
The NOC actively cooperates with the Kazakhstan National Anti-Doping Centre and a modern Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation and Training Center ProSport has been opened.
The official inauguration ceremony is fixed for September 27 when an international conference on sports medicine will be held with the participation of world famous IOC speakers.
In 2018, 85 athletes and 205 coaches in 27 sports participated in Olympic Solidarity programmes, underlining the NOC’s ambitions.
