Dushanbe, Tajikistan, April 5, 2025: HE Zulfiqor Gulahmadzoda, Sport Minister of Tajikistan and Vice President of the National Olympic Committee officially opened the second leg of the Olympic Council of Asia-Olympic Solidarity Regional Forum 2025 in Dushanbe on Saturday, April 5.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your presence, your interest in our country, and your collective efforts to build a brighter future for sports,’ said Mr. Zulfiqor, speaking at the opening ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
“We are confident that the outcomes of this forum will lay a strong foundation for new achievements and fruitful cooperation within the Olympic Movement.”
A total of 19 NOCs from West Asia and Central Asia are participating in the two-day forum.
Mr Zulfiqor also highlighted the important role the Tajikistan NOC plays in the country.
“Since its establishment, the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan has worked with dedication to develop physical culture and sports, promote Olympic values, and enhance the country's sports infrastructure. Our athletes continue to inspire us with their impressive results on the international stage, bringing home prestigious medals and setting an example for youth to lead healthy and active lives.”
OCA Deputy Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari speaking at the opening ceremony, requested all delegates to make full use of the forum in order to gain as much information on upcoming 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games Riyadh, and 2025 Bahrain Asian Youth Games, as well as Olympic Solidarity funding over the cycle of 2025-2028.
Tajikistan and Iran NOC also signed a MOU during the opening ceremony strengthening both countries’ cooperation on sports, and offering opportunities to Tajikistan winter and summer sports athletes to benefit from Iran’s excellent sports facilities.
