Thimphu, Bhutan, April 2, 2025: The first overseas Asian Games Fun Run for Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will be hosted by the Bhutan Olympic Committee on Thursday, April 3, with around 250 school children joining the event.
Unveiling details at a press conference on Wednesday, April 2, BOC Secretary General Sonam Karma Tshering said: “The aim of the Fun Run is to promote and raise awareness of the Asian Games among the general public.
“In collaboration with the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia, we will hold this Fun Run beginning at 8am on Thursday,” Sonam Tshering added.
OCA Director of Development and NOC Relations Wissam Trkmani said: “The Fun Run is all about sport, fun and friendship. We are very pleased to come to Bhutan and thank the Bhutan NOC for organising this event.
“The Asian Games was first held in 1951 in New Delhi and it has grown from 11 NOCs participating to all 45 Asian NOCs competing in Aichi-Nagoya, the 20th edition, next year. The Asian Games is a festival of diversity and we want to celebrate this aspect at the Fun Run,” Trkmani added.
Delegates attending the ongoing OCA-OS Regional Forum in Thimphu are also expected to join the school children in the Fun Run.
