Tehran, Iran, March 30, 2025: Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has sent a letter to IOC President Thomas Bach expressing his gratitude for his support to the Iran NOC as well as inviting him to visit Iran.

The letter sent by the Iran NOC President highlights deepest gratitude for Bach’s extraordinary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Olympic Movement and to the protection of athletes’ rights.

Khosravi Vafa stated that, under Bach’s leadership, the IOC has successfully overcome global challenges over the past decade and ensured the continued progress of the Olympic Games.

Vafa said: “I sincerely appreciate your trust and support for the Iran NOC which has enabled us to strengthen our programmes in the interests of athletes. Symbolically, you are passing the torch to another distinguished Olympian, Kirsty Coventry, to ensure that the Olympic Movement continues to grow under the leadership of leaders who keep its fundamental values alive.”

Vafa, who met Bach during the 2024 Paris Olympics, once again invited the former IOC President to visit Iran and see for himself the progress of Iranian sport.
