New Delhi, India, March 25, 2025: India hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh was named Hockey India’s Player of the Year 2024 at the annual awards held in Delhi.

Harmanpreet, who won the FIH Player of the Year 2024, was awarded the Hockey India Balbir Singh Senior Award for Player of the Year 2024.

Harmanpreet said: “This award is just so special for me. Not only was it presented by the family of one of the greatest players in India’s hockey history but the award was also presented in front of an audience that included several hockey greats from the past and present.

“This year, the Hockey India Annual Awards was truly special as we got to celebrate our achievements amidst the legends of the 1975 Hockey World Cup.”

He further highlighted that his success as a goal machine for India could not have been possible without the support of his teammates. “I dedicate this award to them and my family who have stood by me like a rock. I have said this many times, but if I am scoring goals then it is also their effort.”

Harmanpreet has been in top form for India. Last year at the Olympics, he scored a brace against Spain as India finished with the bronze medal. He followed this up with a successful outing in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy, and has led the team from the front at the FIH Pro Hockey League 2024-25 where they are currently placed third in the standings.

He added: “It is hugely motivating for the players to receive accolades at the annual awards and we are grateful to Hockey India.”
