Ramallah, Palestine, March 24, 2025: A delegation of Palestine national athletes visited wounded children from Gaza receiving treatment at the Al-Thumama Medical Complex in Doha, Qatar, last Friday, March 21.
The Palestine Olympic Committee reported that the visiting delegation included Olympic swimmer Valerie Tarazi, weightlifter Mohammed Hamada, swimmer Farah Fares and volleyball player Abdullah Al-Attar.
During the visit the athletes interacted with the children, encouraging them to be strong and determined during their medical treatment. The athletes spoke about their own sporting careers and the obstacles they had overcome in pursuit of their dreams.
The visit comes within the framework of Palestinian sports and athletes’ engagement with Palestinian society with the aim of spreading hope and the spirit of solidarity, unity and equality, all encouraged by Olympic values.
There are around 190 children from the Gaza strip receiving treatment in Doha. They range from ages three to nine years.
