Astana, Kazakhstan, March 20, 2025: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan held discussions with representatives from Nazarbayev University on the introduction of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in sports science on Tuesday, March 18.
The meeting was attended by NOC Secretary General Alimzhan Akayev; the Director of the Sports Department, Bektur Kiyatbay; the Co-Director of the Master’s Programme in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of the NU School of Medicine, Yeltay Rakhmanov; NU professor Prashant Jamwal and Master’s student Yenlik Ultarakova.
Representatives of the University shared international experience in the field of introducing AI in sports science and noted the high interest of foreign universities and large companies in this development.
The NOC emphasised the importance of developing the scientific direction in Kazakhstan’s sports and gave examples of the successful use of AI in sports refereeing.
Possible formats of cooperation in supporting research projects aimed at developing sports in the country were also discussed.
In addition, Yenlik Ultarakova, previously selected as a representative of Kazakhstan in the IOC Young Leaders programme, spoke about her participation in this initiative.
