Oman NOC honours young female fencers

Muscat, Oman, March 18, 2025: A ceremony was held at the Oman Olympic Committee HQ to honour the players of the national fencing team who won the bronze medal in the recent Asian Junior Fencing Championship in Kuwait. 

 

The ceremony aimed to encourage and motivate athletes to give their best and highlight the successes achieved by Omani sports on the international stage.

 

The ceremony was attended by Khalid Mohammed Al-Zubair, OOC Chairman; Khalid Saeed Al-Shaibani, President of Oman Fencing Committee; Sayyida Sanaa Hamad Al-Busaidi, President of Oman Women Sports and Gender Equality Committee; and Taha Sulaiman Al-Kishry, OOC Secretary-General.

 

Khalid Al-Shaibani, accompanied by Khalid Al-Zubair, honored the players Jannah Mohammed Al-Sharjiya, Israa Saif Al-Siyabiya and Salma Saeed Al-Daghishiya, along with their coach, Captain Hisham Ali Karshod.

 

Khalid Mohammed Al-Zubair praised the players’ accomplishment, expressing his pride in the fighting spirit they demonstrated during the competition. He noted that this medal reflected the hard work carried out by the Oman Fencing Committee to develop the sport and enhance the skills of both male and female players.

 

Khalid Saeed Al-Shaibani emphasized that this achievement would not have been possible without the continuous efforts of the players, technical staff and administrative team. He pointed out that the committee was moving forward with its plans to increase interest in fencing and expand its practice base in Oman.
