Manila, Philippines, March 10, 2025: The President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, has celebrated the return of the Tour of Luzon cycling race.

At a press conference with the theme “Tour of Luzon 2025: The Great Revival”, the POC President described it as a “legendary race”.

“After decades, the Tour of Luzon is back, ready to reignite the spirit of cycling,” Tolentino, who is also the President of PhilCycling, posted.

“Get ready for an unforgettable journey through history, speed and competition. Let’s make this comeback one for the books and ride into history together!”

The POC President thanked MPTC (Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation) and DuckWorld, the broadcasting and media production company, “for their unwavering support in bringing back this legendary race”.

Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann also graced the official launch for the comeback of Asia’s oldest cycling race at the Meralco Lighthouse in Pasig City. The Tour of Luzon was first held in 1955 and this year’s race will end a 23-year hiatus.

It will start in Laoag City on April 23 and traverse the roads of Luzon island, with the final lap set in Lingayen, Pangasinan leading to Baguio City on May 1.

The PSC sports agency chief expressed his full support for this major cycling event that will not only discover new cycling talent but also feature Luzon's natural attractions and the vibrant communities from various cities and towns.
