Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 2, 2025: The Olympic Council of Malaysia’s proposed new Olympic House will be located at Kuala Lumpur Sports City following a landmark agreement between the OCM and the Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia (PSM) on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.
The new Olympic House will bring together National Sports Associations affiliated with OCM and the sports community under the spirit of togetherness.
It will be located beside the National Hockey Stadium and surrounded by the National Stadium, the National Aquatics Centre, the National Sports Council, the National Sports Institute and the Bukit Jalil Sports School.
Inspired by the IOC’s Olympic House in Lausanne, Olympic House in Malaysia will be the perfect location for OCM as the umbrella body to 58 NSAs.
“It will be located at the entrance of the Kuala Lumpur Sports City, serving as a perfect location and command centre for all facilities. It will be easily accessible and in close proximity to the public transportation network,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of OCM and Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone.
The OCM decided that the current HQ, Wisma OCM, which was completed in 1991, was not viable to maintain at its current location and will be transformed into a financial hub.
“We are now looking forward to building a new legacy for OCM as an advocate for Olympic ideals as the proposed Olympic House explores the sustainability and green building practices, including energy-efficient systems, adaptive vegetation method and water conservation measures to meet the sustainability standards.”
Tan Sri Dr. Norza was speaking to the media following the landmark agreement signing ceremony with the PSM on Saturday.
Tan Sri Dato’ Hamidin Mohd Amin, Deputy President of OCM, signed the agreement on behalf of the OCM, while the PSM was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ilyas Jamil.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dato’ Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, the Chairman of PSM, Datuk Hans Isaac, and Tan Sri Dr. Norza were witnesses to the historic ceremony.
The signing ceremony was held following the Cabinet’s decision to approve the sublease of 5.38 acres of land in Bukit Jalil to OCM for the development of the new Olympic House, symbolizing the support and recognition of the Federal Government towards the Olympic Movement led by OCM since 1953.
