Male, Maldives, February 23, 2025: The President of the Maldives Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdul Sattar, together with other officials from the MOC and Handball Maldives, welcomed the Secretary General of the Asian Handball Federation, Muhammad Shafiq, on Friday, February 21.
Discussions centred on plans to host an international beach handball competition in the Maldives.
The MOC expressed its fullest support for the initiative, recognising its potential to significantly elevate the status of handball in the country.
“Initiatives such as this not only offer local athletes invaluable exposure but also serve as a platform to promote the nation’s tourism industry,” the MOC noted.
Talks included key aspects such as logistics, collaboration and the necessary resources to ensure the seamless execution of the competition.
