Kuwait City, Kuwait, February 20, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Director of Development and NOC Relations, Mr. Wissam Trkmani, has been elected Secretary General of the Children of Asia International Committee.
Following a board meeting, the committee also announced that Gavril Tsypandin has been re-elected Director General and Sherzod Asatullaev has been elected Vice President.
Wissam, who is from Lebanon, was elected unanimously as the new Secretary General by the CAIC board members. He is an experienced specialist in sports management and international relations, working for the OCA since 2012. He has been President of the Lebanese Teqball Federation since 2019.
“The election of Wissam Tkrmani to the position of the CAIC underlines the organization's desire to further develop and strengthen its position in international arena,” the committee said in a statement.
“Mr. Trkmani's leadership qualities and professional experience will contribute to the committee's mission aimed at supporting and popularizing sports among young people.”
On the recommendation of CAIC President Vladimir Maksimov, the Board unanimously approved Gavril Tsypandin as the Director General of the organization for a new four-year term.
Gavril Tsypandin has been the Director General since 2020 and has served the Children of Asia project for 14 years.
Newly-elected Vice President Sherzod Asatullaev (Uzbekistan) previously served as Secretary General of the Children of Asia International Committee. He has been working for CAIC since 2012.
In January 2025, the OCA Executive Board appointed Sherzod Asatullaev as the OCA representative to the Board of the Children of Asia International Committee – a position held previously by Azat Myradov.
“The election of Sherzod Asatullaev as Vice President was a logical step taking into account his long-lasting experience in the Committee, as well as a sign of the trust of the Olympic Council of Asia,” the committee said.
“In his new position, he will continue to develop projects and programmes aimed at supporting young athletes and strengthening international relations within the Children of Asia.”
