Bahrain looks to boost profile in triathlon

Manama, Bahrain, February 19, 2025: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and OCA Vice President for the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025, welcomed Antonio Romanio, President of the International Triathlon Union, at the BOC Headquarters earlier this week.

 

Joining the discussions were Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, BOC Secretary General, and Abbas Bu Hassan, Vice President of the Bahrain Triathlon Federation.

 

Shaikh Isa bin Ali greeted his overseas visitor warmly and passed on the regards of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

 

Talks focused on how Bahrain and the ITU can collaborate to further grow the sport locally and internationally. From increasing participation to elevating Bahraini athletes on the world stage, both parties explored ways to take triathlon to new heights.

 

Shaikh Isa bin Ali emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to working closely with the ITU through knowledge exchange, joint initiatives and long-term cooperation.

 

Mr. Romanio wished Shaikh Isa bin Ali success in his leadership and efforts to expand the sport worldwide, hinting that Bahrain is ready to play a bigger role in that journey.
