Muscat, Oman, February 17, 2025: The Board of Directors of the Oman Olympic Committee held its first meeting of the year on Sunday, February 16, presided over by OOC President Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair.
The Board reviewed the annual report of the OOC as well as a summary of events held in 2024. It covered Oman’s participation in international sporting events, including the first GCC Youth Games in the UAE and the Paris Olympics.
Among the key domestic events organised were:
· The GCC Women’s Sports Hackathon.
· The Women and Sports Dialogue Session in collaboration with the French Embassy in Oman
· The Athletes’ Forum held in South and North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi
· The Hiking for an Active Society and Sustainable Health in Salalah
· The Physical Activity and Health Awareness Workshop in Muscat
· The 2024 Olympic Day which saw the participation of more than 300 students from various schools in Muscat
The Board also approved the OOC’s programmes for 2025, with key international participations including:
· The 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain
· The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia
· The 1st West Asia Youth Games in Iraq
The Board also discussed the latest developments regarding the 3rd GCC Beach Games to be held in Muscat from April 5-11, and approved the appointment of Ahmed bin Faisal al Jahdhami as head of the Oman delegation.
Earlier, the OOC General Assembly approved the dates for the upcoming elections for the 2024-2028 electoral cycle – on April 22, 2025.
