OCA officially recognises World Camelids Sports

Harbin, China, February 11, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia has recognised the World Camelids Sports as the official governing body of camel racing in Asia.

The OCA approval follows a request by the President of World Camelids Sports, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In a letter dated February 3, 2025 and addressed to OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, who is also Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, stated that WCS was committed to uplifting the Camel Race to becoming an international sport.

“The growth of World Camelids Sports (WCS) has been remarkable over the past few years. Since our establishment, we have expanded to encompass over 60 member federations as practitioners to this beautiful sport,” Prince Fahd wrote.

“The WCS is the official governing body that manages the international calendar of camel race events and oversees the unified international ranking system for both male and female competitors, in addition to sharing the rich traditions and history of camel racing with the world.

“As a first step in this recognition process, we would like to obtain the recognition from the Olympic Council of Asia as the official recognised body of all camel racing events within Asian countries,” Prince Fahd said.

The WCS President also thanked Mr. Al Musallam for gracing the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival in Riyadh last year.

The decision of the OCA to recognise the WCS as the official governing body in Asia will enable the organisation to develop and promote camel racing and offer a bright future in the continent.
